Construction of a new ATH Sports Medicine and Human Performance Center in Pearland has begun. Located on the Hermann Pearland Memorial Hospital campus at 16100 South Freeway, the approximately 13,000 square foot facility will house unparalleled expertise in human performance and training opportunities in an adult fitness space, a professional sports style weight room and indoors and outdoors. grass fields. The facility, a collaboration between ATH, Memorial Hermann, and UT Physicians Orthopedics, is slated to open in fall 2023.
An ATH facility at Cypress is also in the works, also in conjunction with Memorial Hermann. On the Hermann Cypress Memorial Hospital campus at 27800 Highway 290, ATH will open and operate an approximately 13,000 square foot facility in 2024. The ATH is also pleased to announce the addition of world-renowned educator, researcher, and strength and conditioning coach John Cronin as Scientific Director. Cronin’s focus will be to provide scientific expertise and training to support ATH staff and programs.

Cronin is Professor of Strength and Conditioning at the Sports Performance Research Institute of New Zealand (SPRINZ) at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). His research interests focus on human movement, particularly around muscle strengthening, injury resistance, return to play and high performance sports. Cronin’s research has been published in over 400 peer-reviewed articles.
AUT and ATH have a long history. AUT postgraduate fellows conduct research at ATH as part of a team of selected coaches and students, and collaborate in the development of sports technology.
