Burnley college and football club plan exciting activities for Wolves game

Burnley Football Club and Burnley College are working together to create a day to remember for fans at Turf Moor later this month.

The college will open its car park free of charge to Clarets fans and create a fun route to Turf Moor, where supporters can increase their daily steps and enjoy a range of exhibitions, performances and activities.

Interactive activities will continue throughout the day and beyond the final whistle. Every corner of the stadium – including Papa John’s popular FanZone – will feature the best Burnley College has to offer, from creative projects and performances, to contemporary dance and live music.

Fans can showcase their gaming skills against the qualified team from the university’s Esports Academy, which is already in partnership with the official Burnley FC Esports team. In addition, there will be student athletic challenges on sports and fitness classes.

The A-level English Literature students have written a poem to mark the collaboration between the college and the football club, which is growing stronger with the establishment of the popular College Clarets scheme.

Students can access discounted game tickets and merchandise through this pioneering partnership, as well as opportunities to serve as club ambassadors.

The match day celebration will highlight the diversity of courses available to learners at Burnley College, from school leavers to those wishing to study at university level, from people looking to retrain to those who simply enjoy learning.

Karen Buchanan, Principal of Burnley College, said the aim was to raise the profile of the unique collaboration between the university and the football club and showcase student talent:

“It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the college to life on the iconic stage of Turf Moor and engage with the football-loving community.

“To mark the occasion and celebrate the close links between the club and the college, we have created special scarves, with a limited number available for fans who engage with college staff on the day – whether to find out about possible courses or to participate in activities.

“Our partnership with Burnley Football Club is an incredible success and has huge benefits for both the club and the university.

“It’s fantastic to develop this further, expand the opportunity to work together and grow our relationship with some exciting developments to follow in the months ahead.

“We hope the community will support the club and the college for this great event, filling the stands to cheer on the Clarets and enjoying the free activities organized by our amazing students.”
