Chicago schools formation says sex ‘isn’t rooted in biology,’ tells teachers to hide gender pronouns from parents

Chicago Public Schools mandated a teacher-training program that declared gender a social construct and threatened punishment if faculty did not use students’ preferred pronouns, several teachers told Fox News Digital.

A 104-slide PowerPoint presentation echoed a number of leftist talking points that surfaced at trainings across the country. Titled “Supporting Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming Students,” the presentation argued that “everyone has multiple, overlapping identities” and that gender is assigned at birth.

“Gender and sex are socially constructed, meaning they were created and enforced by members of a society,” a slide from the presentation reads. The notes state that “the concepts of gender and sex are not actually rooted in biology. Instead, they are socially constructed, meaning they were created and applied by people in a society” .

The presentation appeared to come from the Office of Student Health and Welfare, which was featured on the first slide.

Part of the presentation instructed teachers not to tell parents about students identifying with a different gender, using different pronouns, etc.

“Discussing a student’s transition with their parent or guardian without the student’s explicit consent is not permitted,” read one of the slides.

The notes add that “[p]Parental consent is not required for a student name, gender marker or pronoun change.”

EDUCATION SECRETARY MIGUEL CARDONA CALLS ON US TO ‘RESET’ AFTER COVID-19 AND ‘RE IMAGINE EDUCATION’

This problem has become more prominent lately. Californian mother Jessica Konen has sent a legal complaint to her child’s school district, alleging teachers manipulated her daughter into trying to change her gender, as well as hiding those efforts from her parents.

CPS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Thursday.

An email obtained by Fox News shows a list of trainings with durations. The “Supporting Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Nonconforming Students” training was much longer than the others.

It listed a “required time” of 109 minutes compared to 28 minutes for “Back-to-School Health Protocols”, 50 minutes for “Chronic Conditions”, 63 minutes for “Protecting Chicago’s Children”, 26 minutes for “Department of Human Rights from the Illinois man, “55 minutes for “Harassment, Discrimination, and Retaliation” and 71 minutes for “Information Security Awareness.”

A teacher who spoke on condition of anonymity said the information was presented in a pre-recorded webinar accessible via an internal web portal. The training was also compulsory, according to the teacher.

A “healthy CPS” document, which is linked from the CPS website, also lists the title of the presentation under the required trainings. This document lists the length as 70 minutes, as opposed to the 109 minutes in the email obtained by Fox News Digital.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the teacher said, “I understand that my own personal beliefs will not always align with those of a company or school district for which I work. I also accept that My students and I won’t always share the same beliefs, in this case regarding gender identity and the use of pronouns. That’s not the problem, though. In this situation, my school district is teaching false information. about gender and sex to its employees – literally teaching them that everything is a social construct. … What kind of education are we giving when we articulate lies to our students in the name of their comfort?”

“The most unethical aspect of my teaching career in Chicago is looking at a parent and using a different name and gender for a student than what the student uses in school with dozens of teachers and hundreds of classmates. Some students ask for their alternate name to use in their email address, which prevents me from including a student and a parent in the same thread.”

“The way transgender and pronoun use is celebrated within the CPS (see this unlisted neighborhood video) does not only reflect acceptance, tolerance and affirmation. There’s a celebratory feel to it that pushes students toward different uses of pronouns and gender identities that they know will earn them special attention and commendatory remarks from the adults in their world.”

The presentation notes read, “As of 2019, LGBTQ+ history is required in K-12 social studies classes.” Students cannot withdraw, according to the presentation.

One of the slides is titled “Personal Beliefs Vs. Personal Responsibility” and contains notes that are apparently intended for Dr. Fox to tell individuals that they should comply with CPS policy even if it conflicts with their beliefs. .

The notes said: “Dr Fox: It is important to recognize that some people have personal or religious beliefs that may conflict with this content. Everyone is entitled to their personal beliefs.
