RAPID CITY, SD–Senior Activity Week will be held July 11-15 in Rapid City with many sporting events planned for attendees aged 50 or older. The Senior Games are hosted by the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department.

Participants compete against others of the same sex and within the same five-year age group. This summer’s Games will feature swimming, pickleball, golf and ice skating. The events take place over five days at various recreational facilities across the City. The deadline for registration is July 8.

“The Senior Games event was created to promote the health, fitness and physical activity of men and women aged 50 and over,” said Lindsey Myers, the city’s recreation specialist. “There are a number of competitive events and it’s a great way for participants to compete in a fun way and maybe show off some skills and talents from the younger days. For some, it’s just a chance to get out and participate in physical activity with friends and have fun.

The registration fee is $10 per person and includes attendance at all events and an athletes’ picnic on Wednesday, July 13. Participants can register online at or at the Parks and Recreation office at 515 West Boulevard.

For more information, contact Myers at 605-394-4175.
