Eliminate the fear of strength training

Nothing is more frustrating than spending months exercising without seeing results. Maybe you found yourself starting a tough routine and your current fitness level just wasn’t there. Did that make you throw in the towel, give up too soon?

We rely on brilliant new programs and solutions to achieve our weight loss goals. When in reality, we need good old fashioned strength training. Take the fear out of strength training. Don’t let the phrase intimidate you. It just means that you will make your body more vital by exercising. This doesn’t mean you have to be a weightlifter or even try to lift more than your body weight off a chair.

Challenge yourself

The slogan “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you” couldn’t be truer when it comes to your health and exercise routine. BUT we all need to start a level with the right kind of exercises that match our abilities and aspirations.

In this edition of 4 Your health blog we’ll break down an effective gym or home exercise routine that you can implement right away.

The type of exercise in this workout has been proven to lower blood pressure, improve posture/back pain, account for the much-needed weekly activity minutes, and help bring you closer to your health and fitness goals ideals.

The session below will take you less than 30 minutes to complete. Add a few 30-minute walks each week. You’ll be well on your way to adopting a well-balanced exercise routine and a healthier lifestyle.

keep it simple

I get to add something new to your schedule can seem overwhelming. Keep it simple. Maybe slip it on right before your shower in the morning or right after you leave work. Try an exercise or two while watching TV.

Keep your exercise simple enough so that YOU WILL DO IT every week. Make it challenging enough that you have to step out of your comfort zone a bit to accomplish it.

I have found that short, quick workouts work much better for me every day than longer workouts that take over 50 minutes. Are there times when you find yourself looking for something to do or just surfing the web? Instead, try putting a training block on your schedule to make it happen on your own.

Trainer’s Tip

Be sure to include all four components in your exercise sessions for best results. Don’t skip the warm-up or cool-down. These crucial workout supplements will help you prevent injury and get the most out of your routine.

Here is the full home exercise routine videoand below is a quick breakdown of what to expect.

The warm-up: Simple bodyweight exercises and stretches to increase heart rate, reduce risk of injury and improve range of motion.

Work: (strength) Bodyweight and resistance based movements are designed to incorporate multiple muscle groups and challenge your body and can be modified for all fitness levels.

Cooldown: (flexibility) Low impact bodyweight and mat exercises to restore resting heart rate levels and cool the body.

So. A simple and effective exercise routine that will bring you closer to your ideal health goals in just two or three sessions per week!

You may be thinking, Drew, it’s not that simple, and you’re right. There’s so much more to creating a healthier lifestyle and habits, like nutrition, sleep, and fostering healthy relationships.

Do not worry. We’ll continue to cover simple ways to improve your health and fitness as a busy professional.
