Held on April 8, on the center floor of Victoria Hall, Fun Day provided an opportunity to ask questions about the centre’s programming, experience in-person activities and games, and meet d old and new friends.
Visitors were able to sit down and play a game of crokinole, cribbage or euchre or chat with representatives from the various programs. Center member and Observer columnist Patti Stillman greeted people as they entered the room, noting any programming suggestions offered by guests.
“We need to get back to normal and that’s a way of letting people know we’re here and we’re open, and what we have to offer. We want to revive interest,” said Arlene Ling, Programs and Operations Administrator.
Ling explained that the number of attendees and adherents is down following the two years of COVID restriction closures.
Most center programs now hold morning sessions, but the current numbers just aren’t there for the traditional additional afternoon sessions.

To encourage greater participation and better serve its members, Day of Fun participants were asked to complete a survey asking what activities seniors were interested in seeing the center offer, what fitness activities, outdoor activities and what times for said activities were most convenient. .
April is 50+ Active Living Center Membership Renewal Month. The membership fee for the year is $25. A membership form to complete is available on the centre’s website or you can email the center to have one sent to you ([email protected]).
