Goodman Manufacturing recalls over 300,000 oven components amid fire reports – FOX13 News Memphis
HOUSTON — Goodman Manufacturing Co. on Thursday recalled more than 300,000 evaporator coil drain pans installed with residential condensing gas furnaces after reporting 23 reports of fires causing damage.

The recall includes 298,300 evaporator coil drain pans sold in the United States and another 44,000 sold in Canada.
According to the recall notice, the molded plastic drain pan located at the bottom of the evaporator coil, when installed with a residential condensing gas furnace in an upflow configuration, can overheat, melt and burn. deform, posing a fire hazard. Goodman has received 23 reports of incidents to date resulting in extensive fire and smoke damage to residences, but no injuries have been reported.
The recall applies to furnaces with the upflow configuration that were installed or repaired with a new evaporator coil drain pan between January 2019 and November 2021. Specifically, only evaporator drain pans with Serial numbers with prefixes ranging from 1901 to 2101 are covered by the recall.
The affected products were sold by independent heating and cooling equipment dealers nationwide from January 2019 through November 2021 for between $200 and $1,200 per unit.
Consumers are encouraged to contact Goodman, based in Houston, to register for free repair by a qualified technician.
Consumers should visit Goodman’s recall website to use a model check tool for the evaporator coil, furnace, and outdoor condenser. Goodman’s Model Checker Tool provides step-by-step instructions to determine if your gas furnace system is affected by this recall. Goodman will also help consumers gather information about their appliances, including the drain pan serial number, furnace model number and brand name, and outdoor system model number.
