Holywell Leisure Center will host free activities this month


The Holywell Leisure Center will be offering free activities in September ahead of National Fitness Day.

National Fitness Day is a campaign to encourage Britons to prioritize their physical health to support their mental toughness.

Holywell Leisure Center is celebrating by opening its doors hosting a range of free events and tasting sessions.

Dubbed the UK’s most active day of the year, National Fitness Day saw more than 22 million people take part in some form of exercise on a single day last year. This year aims to continue the trend by encouraging people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate.


Holywell Leisure Center Manager James Kerrigan said: “Holywell Leisure Center is delighted to be part of National Fitness Day on September 21.

“This day is about encouraging people to get up and be active, have fun and feel like part of a community. The center will organize events and activities throughout the day to help people move .

Huw Edwards, CEO of ukactive, which is coordinating the campaign, said: “Today we all face our own personal challenges, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by events at home and abroad, from the cost of living crisis to rising energy bills, global conflicts and war, or environmental concerns.

People are encouraged to get involved using the #fitnessday hashtag in preparation for the event on Wednesday, September 21 by posting photos and social media posts showing how they are staying active and why.
