KELSO Washington (KPTV) — Kelso High School has canceled all weekend activities following reports of a possible threat Friday that led to the lockdown.
The Kelso Police Department said officers responded around 1 p.m. Friday to a threat made with a text message and an image of a gun possibly inside the school.
Upon arrival, officers found no active threats to the students and no injuries were reported. Police then conducted a thorough search of the school and found no evidence to support the threat, authorities said.
The Kelso School District has asked parents and family not to approach or attempt to enter the school. Parents picking up students were asked to park at Tam O’Shanter Park and then walk to South Gymnasium to pick up their student. Parents are also requested to bring an identity document.
Timelines for the release of high school students were determined by the progress of the police investigation.
All events at Kelso High School are canceled for the weekend, including sports practices and youth sports. The Homecoming Ball is also canceled and will be rescheduled, according to the district.
