Children and families are invited to the Bob Lucas Memorial Library for a morning of gardening. Master Gardener Brienna McWade will talk about the basics of the garden’s growth cycle, soil, plants and pollinators. She will then lead everyone in a planting session to fill the library garden beds with cool season plants. Participation of an adult/parent is required. Participants will be working outdoors, so remember to wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty.

Start by becoming a maker! • Bring your own clothes you used to love and learn how to embellish and reinvent them with Teapot Gardens and sustainability stylist, Yasmina Luria. • Stop by the community dye pot with Erin Berkowitz of Berbo Studio and learn how to dye your own bandana with pomegranate skins. • Enjoy 15-minute guided tours of The Huntington’s exhibit, “Gee’s Bend: Shared Legacy,” featuring the work of Gee’s Bend quiltmakers, led by our high school volunteers. • Make your own plant pigments, inspired by the work of Sandy Rodriguez, at the outdoor art cart in front of the American Art Gallery. • Attend an outdoor music concert or drum circle from LA’s community musical ensemble, The Neighborhood Orchestra.
