Klopp embraces ‘massive talent’ in Liverpool coaching, hasn’t used it since May
There were some warm scenes during Liverpool training today.
The Reds are preparing for a visit from Premier League champions Manchester City.
Liverpool have endured an abysmal league campaign so far, winning just two of their first eight outings.
Injuries have contributed to their dismal season, but people like Curtis Jones are starting to come back.
The 21-year-old is yet to kick the ball under Jurgen Klopp since the end of the 2021-22 campaign but has returned to training in recent weeks.
And earlier today, the Liverpool boss warmly embraced his midfielder.
Still just 21, Jones has been described as a ‘massive talent‘ by the German manager and it will be interesting to see if his first minutes of the campaign arrive against Manchester City.
But in all likelihood, probably not.
Liverpool absolutely must win this game and although Jones will come in handy at some point this season, he is likely to lack the fitness to make a dent in Pep Guardiola’s side.
Victory would put City 16 points ahead of Klopp’s troops on Sunday and it’s still October.
It would be a coffin nail in their Premier League title hopes and with that in mind, Klopp is likely to rely on his fully fit players.
