Registration for fall recreational activities will begin on August 15

Registration for the county’s fall recreation programs and activities will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, August 15, officials said.

Activities such as Aquatic Sports, Fitness, Sports, Visual and Performing Arts, Therapeutic Recreation, Adult 55+ and older programs are available for review now, prior to registration.

The department has added the possibility for interested residents to create their own guide, based on categories, locations and age of participants. The instructions, according to a press release, are:

  • Select the topics that interest you. You can choose from program categories, organized by subject. You can choose a primary category, which will automatically select all matching secondary categories, or just select individual secondary categories.
  • Choose locations. Montgomery County Recreation offers programs at county facilities.
  • Indicate the age group. Select age ranges that are relevant to you and your family members.
  • Review your selection and create your guide. Review the categories, locations, and ages you chose during the selection process. When you are done with your review, click the “Create My Guide” button and a downloadable PDF file will be created for you.

Online registration will be available Monday at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org.

In addition, four recreation centers will open at 6:30 a.m. to facilitate in-person registration. The most convenient centers for local readers are the Long Branch Community Recreation Center at 8700 Garland Ave. and the Wheaton Recreation Center at 11701 Georgia Ave.

Registration is also available by mail; call 240.777.6840 with any questions or for more information.
