SIAM Welcomes Government’s List of Advanced Automotive Technology Components for PLI, Auto News, ET Auto Program

Auto industry body SIAM on Thursday called the government’s list of advanced automotive technology (AAT) components that will be eligible for incentives under the program “broad based and well-structured on all topics”. production-related incentives for the automotive sector.

In a notification, the Ministry of Heavy Industries listed more than 100 AAT components – including hydrogen fuel cells, a hydrogen injection system, electric motors for electric vehicles, a main control unit to optimize the CNG fueled engine performance, lightweight cryogenic cylinders for storing LNG in automobiles and fuel pump for gasoline direct injection (GDI) – which will be eligible for incentives under the program.

“SIAM thanks and congratulates the Department of Heavy Industries for presenting a structured list of PLI parts and procedural details in a very short time,” said Rahul Bharti, Engagement Manager, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers , in a press release.

He added: “Our preliminary observation is that the list of parts of the AAT is large and well structured across themes.” SIAM members will study both the list and the procedure in detail and discuss with the ministry with comments if necessary, Bharti added. According to the ministry’s notification, battery-powered electric quadricycles will also be eligible for incentives under the program.

In September, the Union Cabinet approved a Rs 26,058 crore Production Linked Incentive Program (PLI) for the automotive, automotive components and drone industries to improve the capabilities of manufacture from India.

The government said the program would be offered to companies engaged in manufacturing advanced automotive technology products such as battery-electric vehicles, which meet 7 of the 16 performance criteria of the FAME-II program, and battery-powered vehicles. hydrogen fuel would be eligible.

He had said that the AAT components would be notified separately.
