The Strathmore Motor Products Sports Center will host the community on September 16th to showcase all the different sports and activities you can sign up for!

While REVS remains online, the sports center is excited to host an in-person event to show all the opportunities you and your kids have to stay active. Strathmore Motor Products Sports Center Manager Lisa Montgomery explained some of what they offer.

“We’ve partnered with FCSS (Family and Community Support Services) and we offer community nights at the sports centre. And what that involves is featuring some of the bands like Strathmore soccer, Strathmore fast pitch, pickleball. And they’re going to come and have tables on our track, and then we’ll also be doing demonstrations of some of the sports and classes that will be offered here in the fall.”

Other programs that will be there involve CLS Basketball, Seniorcize, Bar Body Blitz, High Fitness and Active Start. Montgomery explained that some of them are new to the community

“We’re very happy to be able to offer this for free to the community so they can see what’s coming in the fall and what programs are here for youth and adults and some of them are new programs.”

Bar Body Blitz is one of the new programs, and it’s a once-a-week program that gets your whole body moving!

“It’s a full body workout that involves Bar dance moves, along with the use of light weights and bands. And then there will be little cardio blitzes.”

They even have things for toddlers and little kids, as Active Start is a program for 3-5 year olds.

“It’s an introduction to physical literacy skills involving games that introduce children to basic physical literacy skills, like running, jumping, and then taking each skill to the next level.”

The event will run from 4-6 p.m. and community bingo will then run from 6-8 p.m.

The sports center will also start running educational day camps from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days when children are not in school, as well as launching a pilot project where they will open at 6 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, instead of the usual departure at 8am. It starts on September 19. they
