Toomey chose to briefly step away from CrossFit ahead of the games as she switched to bobsledding with ambitions of making it to the Olympics. Her transition to bobsledding meant she had to gain weight, which ultimately hampered her CrossFit training, casting doubt on her performance with very little time left. However, Tia-Clair was determined to keep her throne and returned to strength training. In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube account, Toomey shared his first day of team training with Brooke Wells in preparation for the upcoming Down Under 2022 Championship.

Toomey admitted that she had not completed the training regimen since the last event of the Games. They paired up for a practice session using a pyramid chart, doing 3 rounds as follows:

  • 18 calories on the ski erg
  • 36 GHD sit-ups
  • 18 calories on the ski erg
  • 9 bar muscle-up

Toomey and Wells also worked on the assault bike and performed barbell lunges on foot. The ladies concluded the workout on the exercise bike as cardio is one of the main areas Toomey wants to improve.

Tia-Clair Toomey revealed that she injured her back before the Games and was recovering afterwards. Considering her recent update, it looks like she’s on her way to getting back to her best form.
