USMNT defender Chris Richards is yet to return to full training for Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace and United States centre-back chris richard returned to individual training as he recovers from a hamstring injury, but has yet to return to full training with his teammates.
Richards is racing against the clock to get back to full fitness before the world Cup later this month. He has made just three senior appearances for Palace since signing from Bayern Munich in the summer, playing a total of 134 minutes.
The 22-year-old suffered an injury in September, forcing him to withdraw from the USMNT squad which faced Japan and Saudi Arabia that month. He has collected eight international caps so far.
Palace manager Patrick Vieira gave an update on his status on Friday, saying: “Chris has started working away but he hasn’t trained with the team yet.
“What’s important is his physique, there’s a step he has to take and at the moment he hasn’t done any training with the team.
“So the decision will not be mine but together with the doctor we have to decide as a club what is best for the club.”
Vieira added that the club expected to speak with United management about Richards’ recovery.
USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter will announce his World Cup roster on Wednesday, November 9, ahead of their tournament opener against Wales November 21.
